Lesser Black Backed Gull

Smaller than the great black backed and herring gull, the lesser black backed gull's most prominent feature is its bright yellow legs.

Their plumage is dark grey to black, white underparts and a yellow bill.  They are most commonly seen around Lundy throughout the summer when they breed on Lundy where like oher gulls are omnivorous.  After breeding they leave the island over winter and do not return until early the following year. Their worldwide population is found entirely in Europe.
